I hope you enjoyed the week 1 of our Month Long Herb Challenge! This week, we will be learning how to make an herbal tea.
Drinking holy basil tea feels like hitting the reset button. It’s warm, earthy, and instantly calming. As you sip your tea, the mental fog starts to clear, and your mind feels a little lighter, and a little sharper. It’s like clarity in a mug. Tulsi tea is best at any time of day.
Tea
Ingredients
8oz water
1-2 tablespoons dried tulsi (or a handful of fresh tulsi leaves and flowers)
Directions
Bring the water to a boil. Remove from the heat and pour over the tulsi in a heat-safe container.
Allow the tea to steep, covered, for 5-20 minutes.
Strain tulsi from tea and enjoy it daily.
*Because of its high volatile oil content, tulsi tea is best steeped for a short amount of time, like 5 to 10 minutes, covered.
*You can start with 1 teaspoon of the dried leaf per 8 ounces of just-boiled water and increase as desired. There are some recommended doses of up to 4 ounces of holy basil per day, so it will be difficult to take too much of this herb. (1)
